Yes, Canada PR is available for International students. They can apply for Canada PR through immigration programs like the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Some of the PR categories require international students to have minimum work experience. The Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) allows international students to work in Canada after completing their study program. How can International Students apply for Canada PR?

International students can apply for Canada PR through any of the immigration programs listed below:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP): The Federal Skilled Worker Program, or FSWP, is one of the federal programs under the Canada Express Entry program. International students who have scored at least 67 points in the CRS Points calculator and have at least one year of full-time Canadian work experience can apply for the FSWP.
  • Canadian Experience Class: The Canadian Experience Class is a program under the Canada Express Entry immigration system. Students with verified Canadian work experience are eligible to apply for Canada PR through the CEC.
  • Provincial Nominee Program: Canadian provinces and territories have different PNP programs with distinctive eligibility criteria. International students studying or working in a particular province can apply for Canada PR through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
     

What is Canadian Post-Graduation Work Permit?

The Canadian PGWP, or Post-Graduation Work Permit, allows international students to work in Canada after graduating from their study program. To be eligible for a PGWP, the 

applicant must have graduated from a registered DLI or designated learning institution in Canada.  

The eligibility requirements to apply for a PGWP in Canada are as follows:

  • Graduated from a Canadian Designated Learning Institute (DLI)
  • Maintained the status of a full-time student in the country
  • Applied for the PGWP within 180 days of graduating from the study course
  • Have a valid study permit during the 180 period after graduation
