Immigration Pathways

Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP)

Most international students who graduate from the University of Toronto are eligible to apply for a PGWP with a validity period of up to 3 years – the PGWP given depends on the length of the student’s program of study. An applicant must meet the eligibility requirements, and the length the University considers your program to be:

• From 8 months to 2 years of study, the applicant should expect one month of work for every month of the program.
• As of February 15, 2024, eligible Master’s students can expect a 3-year work permit regardless of the length of their program.
• Over 2 years, an applicant should expect a 3-year work permit.
