Canada PR card is an official document that the IRCC issues as proof of permanent residence in Canada. When a PR status holder travels outside the country and arrives back via bus, train, airplanes, or boat, are required to submit the:

  • PRTD (Permanent residence travel document) or PR card
  • Refugee travel document or Valid passport

Step 1: Get the PR card application package

The first step to start the renewal process is downloading the application package. The PR card application package includes details of all the forms and documents required to get a PR card in Canada. You are advised to carefully review the guide and fill out the forms with the correct information. The original PR card, a copy, and the application form must be submitted during the renewal process of the PR card. Other requirements include a valid passport, a travel document, most recent photos, a copy of the fee payment, etc.
 

Step 2: Complete the fee payment

The PR card application fees must be paid online. To complete the fee payment process, you will require a valid email ID, a PDF reader, a printer, and a debit or credit card.
 

Step 3: Submission of your application

You can apply once the fee payment is completed. You can also opt for an offline application process, wherein the paper application with all the documentation can be attached and sent to the Case processing center. The center is located in Sydney, Nova Scotia, and will receive applications through courier or email.
